Death is nearly instantaneous and because they can circle above a target so long, drones reduce the odds of civilian casualties considerably. Many posters here mistakenly believe that Chen was protesting against forced abortions relating to the One Child Policy.
This is not true. You are not forced to abort the second baby. Chinese authorities do not want people with AIDS to have babies, which is actually in the self interest of the would be babies that would be born with AIDS. Surely you wouldn't want to be one of those babies, would you? Wouldn't you rather never be born instead? Is not China a country of Laws?
What is the child was diagnosed with down syndrome, autism or a whole slew of genetic diseases. Shouldn't you be forcing those people to have abortions also? Its a very slippery slope from forcing women to abort their babies because they have AIDS, to forcing mother's to abort babies because of genetic disease to government sponsored Eugenics. Maybe there is no affordable treatment in Shandong province however many years ago when this happened. Forcing women who have other severe debilitating genetic diseases that have a good chance of transfering to baby also makes sense.
You would have to take a huge racist jump to eugenics. I'm not so much advocating for forced abortions rather than pointing out some of the logic behind it.
