Be aware that people will be vigilant when met with an English speaker. So expect some questions and suspicions. Nothing against you but fraud through marktplaats has been committed by English speaking parties in the past.
And in the present. I work for a bank and almost everyday customers report to us they have been duped on Marktplaats, both by English and Dutch speakers. Another thing you will be having going against you if you use Marktplaats, is that it will be clear from your profile that you have just joined Marktplaats as a new member. That combined with the fact that you speak English will ring warning bells.
Perhaps you can make it clear from your posts on Marktplaats that you just moved to Amsterdam. Also you should make clear that instead of mailing out the stuff you sold, you are offering people to pick up the items at your house. This is a pretty common thing to do when buying things on Marktplaats and it greatly reduces the chances of being scammed.
When I asked if I could pick up the item at his home since his profile indicated he lived close to me, all of a sudden he claimed to have been moved to one of the Wadden islands located at the very North of the Netherlands that can only be reached by taking a ferry. When I told him I would be there next weekend for a short holiday, he never got back to me again! How long are you here for? Selling a unit of stuff might be difficult in a week or so. You can also maybe contact tweedehand winkels 2nd hand shops to see if they will sell stuff on consignment for you.
